The Walking Dead Shambles into Fortnite and Omniverse City

The Walking Dead Shambles into Fortnite and Omniverse City
Here’s Why That’s a Game Changer for The Omniverse City

May 6, 2025 — Blog by Jay Pilipovich, Lead Developer at Omniverse City

The undead have arrived, and not just in the post-apocalyptic streets of The Walking Dead Universe, but now inside the limitless sandbox of Fortnite Creative and Omniverse City. With the May 16 launch of The Walking Dead Universe (TWDU) assets for Unreal Engine and UEFN, creators everywhere “including us here in Omniverse City” have a thrilling new arsenal of content to transform gameplay and storytelling.

This isn’t just a cool crossover; this is a huge opportunity for Omniverse City residents, players, and partners alike. Let’s break down what it means, how we’re using it, and why this is a major win for everyone involved.

The Walking Dead x Omniverse City X Fortnite:
What’s Coming

Skybound and Epic Games have unleashed a terrifyingly immersive bundle of content from The Walking Dead Universe, including:

Full Discover page exposure and Epic Picks placement for top TWDU experiences

Walker NPCs with dynamic AI and horde behavior

Negan as both an NPC and playable character

TWDU weapons like Lucille and the Shiva Shotgun

Ready-made templates for assets within The Omniverse City

How Omniverse City Will Use The Walking Dead Universe

We’re already rolling up our sleeves (and maybe grabbing a few Lucilles of our own). Here’s what we’re doing next:

1. Launching “District Z” — A New District in Omniverse City

We’re adding District Z, a new region within Omniverse City and linking it to District Z in Fortnite. This district will be dedicated entirely to horror, survival, and apocalypse-inspired experiences, tournaments and contests. The Fortnite Game will be powered by TWDU content, it will feature:

Player progression and inventory tracking using Verse, letting survivors keep and trade gear across District Z in Fortnite

A multi-phase Clear Walkers survival game built within Omniverse City on Fortnite using TWDU’s official assets

An Omniverse City social hub for horror creators and fans, with cinematic events and in-game quests launchable from Omniverse City stand alone site.

2. Community Collabs and Creator Incentives

We’re inviting our Omnipreneurs to bring their own Walking Dead-inspired content into District Z. If you’re an Omnipreneur this is your moment. All selected Omnipreneurs will be featured in our rotating Omniverse City TWDU Portal, which we’ll submit to the “TWDU Picks” row and Epic’s Discover tab for maximum visibility.

Creators will also get:

A chance to partner with Omniverse City for future IP-based events

Revenue generating placement in District Z to drive traffic to your brands

Exclusive cosmetic perks and avatar bonuses for Omniverse City avatars

3. Roleplay Meets Survival

Omniverse City has always stood out by blending social storytelling and immersive gameplay. With Walker NPCs and UEFN quest support, we’re developing integrated, Walking Dead-inspired roleplay adventures that will evolve over time.

Think: surviving a Walker outbreak during a fashion show in District E, or escorting VIPs through infested subways beneath District D — each with choice-driven outcomes.

Why This Is a Big Deal for Omniverse City Users

🚨 More Content, More Revenue, More Visibility

This partnership and official asset access give users in Omniverse City a real shot at being featured by Epic, thanks to the curated TWDU collections and Discover push. More visibility means more players, more visibility, and faster growth.

🧠 Cross-Genre Game Mechanics

From survival horror to resource gathering, tower defense, or RP adventures — these assets allow for fresh game mechanics that can be layered into any district. You’ll see your space or brand within Omniverse City TWDU show up in ways you never imagined.

💬 Stronger Storytelling Tools

With iconic IPs like The Walking Dead, we’re bringing recognizable themes into Omniverse City’s ever-expanding narrative framework. It deepens immersion, gives creators recognizable beats to work with, and expands the worldbuilding toolkit for every user of Omniverse City.

Don’t Just Survive. Create.

The Walking Dead’s arrival in Omniverse City is more than just a spooky update, it’s a signal that the future of creative IP collaboration is here, and Omniverse City is ready to lead the charge.

We’re not just surviving the apocalypse — we’re building in it.
